From the hotel lobby, I spied another guest cruising down the wide tile steps carrying his backpack and beach towel. He pushed his sunglasses to the top of his head to check his phone but the shades didn't stay. Instead, they fell forward, bounced off his phone and the poor guy drop-kicked his $400 sunglasses down one step then another
and another.
Ugh! Oh, man. I've been there. Dropped and lost all kinds of glasses.
I thought to myself, "There has to be a better way."
When I got home, I did some research and, to my surprise, I discovered there wasn't an eyewear retainer that really fit my daily needs - whether I'm working, shopping, running errands or just enjoying my walk on the planet. Nada.
While working and raising a family, I considered this eyewear retainer problem on the back burner for years, building on ideas to finally create a simple design offering smart, easy FUNctional style for everyday eyeglasses wearers - shades, specs and readers. I was walking along the beach, thinking about my CALI CLIP invention, wondering if starting a business to make CALI CLIP available for folks was the right thing to do. Standing on the shore, taking in the late summer sunshine, I looked out over the ocean and let the cool water swirl around my ankles. As the wave pulled back, I noticed something in the stretch of wet sand a few yards away. I walked over and there at my feet was a sea-tumbled pair of sunglasses. Sunglasses. In the sand. Washed up by the surf.
